As an expert on foreign trade and international economic relations Bożyk replaced Rurarz as the personal advisor to the General Secretary. In these documents, he regularly pointed out to inefficiencies in Poland's economy, lobbied for the revision of the strategy from the early years of the decade, and recommended easing the burdensome loans repayments through joining the IMF and the WB. He was the author of numerous academic publications.
