Herta König
Deputy Minister - Ministry of Finance (1968-1990)

Short bio

As Deputy Minister of Finance, Herta König had first-hand knowledge of the financial situation of the GDR. During the years of the debt crisis, she worked in close collaboration with Alexander Schalck-Golodkowski on the balance of payments. In spring 1982 she shared the conviction of Werner Polze and Gerhard Schürer that negotiations on debt conversion were unavoidable.
